3D Environment Design and Assets Creation for Real-time Virtual Reality Experience

This project involves the design, optimisation, and implementation of 3D environments and real-time-ready assets for an ongoing virtual reality narrative — low-poly, stylised worlds intended to support immersion in six degrees of freedom, rather than static visual quality alone.

Role Overview

The intern will model, texture, and optimise 3D assets and environments for a real-time VR narrative, working closely with the project's artistic and technical direction. Responsibilities include iterative refinement based on feedback, contributing to the translation of a semi-realistic, 2D-inspired visual style into a fully explorable 3D space, and integration of assets into an active production pipeline.

Desired Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of the 3D pipeline, including modelling, texturing, and basic animation, using tools such as Maya, Blender, or Substance Painter.
  • Familiarity with Unity or Unreal Engine and real-time rendering workflows.
  • Ability to sketch or work with a drawing tablet for animatics and prototyping.
  • Interest in low-poly optimisation, spatial sound design, or AI-assisted 3D tools (such as Meshy, Claude, or Creality), prior experience not required.

Open to 3rd/4th-year Bachelor's or 2nd-year Master's students in Design, Animation & VFX, or related fields.
